International Relations

As a consequence of Hillerød´s international strategy we enjoy many international activities. Hillerød is continuously enhancing its international engagement v ia national and international networks, and is participating in EU experience exchange projects with a view to improving task performance. 
 

Hillerød Municipality is also participating in the establishment of a national network for international co-operation, where Hillerød will enter into collaboration with other European towns where it is benefic ia l to do so. Hillerød and our surrounding region have a wealth of opportunities for business and tourists alike. For example a trip around the three famous castles.

• Frederiksborg Castle in the centre of Hillerød.
• Fredensborg Castle, only 10 minutes drive north, which has a spec ia l status as the Danish royal couple’s most favoured residence.
• Kronborg Castle in Elsinore is the home of Shakespeare’s Hamlet and is just a short drive further north.

Hillerød is the educational centre of the region. It has an expanding and active business environment, with the pharmaceutical industry taking a prominent position. The many modern shopping centres in Hillerød make the town the retail centre of Northern Zealand .
